Post ?? for all you stereo geeks.......

Ok.... I need to know what to set my subsonic filter at for my system. I have 2 Kicker s12L7's in a 2cF(ea) tuned ported box. The Fb/tuned frequency is 34.13 Hz. The F3= 35.6 Hz, where should I have the filter be? at ~ 30Hz???

Mike

*I bet no one know the answer to this*

personally i think 30 Hz sounds like a good spot, if the tuning frequency is 34.

all the subsonic filter is for is for removing the frequencies which are lower than what you can here. Since you're box is tuned to play at 34 then 30 seems reasonable to me as well. I doubt you would be hearing anything that low to begin with.

And you thought we'd all be clueless...

Actually a subsonic filter is for removing frequencies below the tuning of a ported enclosure. Not removing frequencies you can't hear. Vented subs tend to flap out of control below the enclosure's tuning frequency. This is a major source of distortion and possible damage to the sub since the enclosure can no longer help control the motion of the sub's cone.
