ALDL questions

I need to wire in an ALDL in my RS. It currently has the 91 (stocker) ALDL in it, and I know I need to wire in a different ALDL. Now my question is which ALDL do I need? The motor is a 95 lt1 with the 95 PCM (obdI). In the future I will convert to obdII due to the high stall problem (when I get a stall). I believe that the obdI connector is a 12-pin and the obdII is a 16-pin, is that right. I have heard but I am not sure, that any GM connector from a 96 on up is the same style connector, and so I can go to a junkyard and get the connector from any model. I just figure if I am going to go to obII I might as well wire in the obdII while I am at it. I am just going to get one from a junkyard so I want to know what models I can use as a donor.

Oh yeah it is for tuning and logging purposes. I am going to get it tuned or start tuning it my self. I also need to be able to read the codes that periodically show up. Right now i have no way of communicating with the PCM. Thanks for the help.

My '95 came with an OBDII style connector even though it's an OBDI computer. Therefore I would suggest you use the OBDII style connector and it will work for your present application as will as when you go to a OBDII computer. The OBDII connector is the higher pin count style.

Hey thanks that is exactly what I needed. Also I need the wiring diagram to which pins in the computer thanks. Or even another link to wires or pins to make it all work.
