His car is a SOLID ROLLER... not the most street friendly cam because of the added noise and need for more attention to the valvetrain. Some guys will say they set their rockers once a year and others say every oil change. Either way just to let everybody know... generally speaking solid rollers make more power over hydro rollers.
I just thought I would point out that I said it was a solid roller FROM THE BEGINING. It's not like people don't know.
How do you qualify your opinion on valvetrain noise and street friendlyness?
What in your opinion is considered streetable?
I just want to know because everyones opinion is different. For example: I personally hate spools in street cars, but some will call me a 'wimp' followed by 'it's not that bad'. They could not be more wrong.

Dtimekw: I am so far from going all out it's not even funny. It's a cam and heads on a budget short block. I have some nice drive train parts, but I have also had the car for about 8 years.

BlueCamaroZ28: I don't know how to answer your question, because I don't know my self. The best thing to do is try it on your car and find out for your self. Every one's set up is different, I don't want to give you a # because I am sure some one will rush out with 'so and so did XXXHP'. I don't know of any companies that have a bigger maf for our cars (other than granitelli, of which I know very little). I didn't look that hard either so I am not the best source for that info.

96flame: No, I didn't do any more tuning. My lean spot got a little leaner, but for the most part the A/F stayed the same. I was told by Creech that MAF porting can go either way. I did have an extra MAF housing from one of my nitrous backfires with the hot cam, so if it didn't work I had the option to put it back the way it was.

Im not trying to discredit your car. I was only pointing out your setup wasnt typical of what other people are running which is part of why it makes more power than an average LT1. And I just read this thread from the beginning... never a mention about a solid roller.

He was very open about the setup on his car in his first post about the hp that it made. I hate the "OMG its a solid roller" argument. I have friends that run a cam almost as big as my 10.3 cam and drive the cars as a daily and its even their trip car(florida several times..about 600 miles round trip..not counting the fun when there). Its all acording to how much you can put up with. Some are willing to put up with the little bit of maintenance of a solid roller for the benafits you gain. In fact on my pro touring 76 vette build up I'm doing a small solid roller(23x/24x) 383 lt1..and it will be driven on the power tour. I've also driven my car around town with a pretty big solid roller/spool/and pro shifted tranny..granted..its no trip car though..lol.

Nice vid 526 SS 96 and congrats on a strong build up.

here is a 1.43 60' when it ran 10.49 http://95formula.ls2.com/Video/10.49.wmv

sorry about the excited wife at the end..lol. I had just taken the 6 speed na record from Tanner and she got kinda excited..lol.

Thanks for the vid. I am going to save that one to my hard drive.
Do you have a 2 step? I was told it would help out a lot, looks like it's the ticket. Would you mind sharing more info on your set up? I hate the solid roller argument too. I think the only reason it's an argument is because people are too afraid to try something that contradicts the board's speculations.

turbo_Z & toby360: You are right, in this thread I did not state the mods. I tend to give my threads similar titles so people are familiar with the topic and I assumed (judging by your post counts) you saw them. Additionally, you are right on another point... I didn't want an average LT-1. In this day and age of factory blower V8's and LS-x's, average will not cut it (for me any way). In fact, the average LT-1 can get clipped by a 4-banger with a decent turbo kit . I just don't want to be that guy... so I will find the 20-30 minutes to adjust my valves (if nessicary) once or twice a summer if that's what it takes. It's hard to belive that a group of people who are willing to spend thousands of dollars and labor for hours on end to install all their own parts, object to a performing a minor service.

yep..I have a 2 step. I love it and yes it will make a difference on the consistency on the launch. And if you decide to do some bracket racing or heads up racing it keeps you from having to watch the tach to get the correct launch rpm. What do you want to know on my setup? I'm pretty open with whats done to the car so ask away. At least on the old setup..lol....its going through a rebuild right now.

Here is another video..I was having traction issues as you can tell and the 2 step wasn't working so I was leaving like normal. I think my 60's were in the high 1.4s. http://95formula.ls2.com/95%20Formula%2010s.wmv

I know what tanner runs...thats on the jug so yes he has the fastest 6 speed period. I'm talking about all motor. I keep trying to taunt him into putting some gear in the car and see what it will go NA.
