A few days after ARE nightmare was put on Camaro Z28.com, I got a call from Wade Stevens of ARE and we made a deal for him to pay me the money to make the engine right, and a new flywheel.Thats been almost 2 months ago.
I havn't received anything .
He conned me into taking the first one off of Camaro Z28.com and I did because I trust people my big mistake. Of course everybody isn't like ARE.
Wade Stevens said the pistons are strong enough for 12lbs of boost, they wouldn't break, but thats a joke because I called every piston company and they said they will.I talked to Ron at Diamond piston again, and he said that they couldn't do it. But Wade said that Chris at diamond did them but he is not at Diamond anymore so that goes to figure.Ron said for Wade to give him the order # for the pistons so he could check and see but wade didn't give him nothing.
I called Wade back a week after the deal, and Wade said the check was sent the other day so in another week I called back and they said the check was going to be sent with the flywheel . Here we go again Lies after Lies.
I've been dealing with companies for about 30yrs getting parts and work done mostly in the US, and I honestly have to say that Agostino's is the worst company that I have ever dealt with in my life.They should be in the Gunnies world record book for the worst engine builders to have your engine built.
Biggest mistake I made in my life 2ys and still going, can't believe a word they say or know whats inside the engine.
Now Nicks back and another deal on the table , same as before he said he was paying me money and flywheel, its been a month now and still nothing . Who do you believe when you call this company and they say they will take care of it and they don't.
I here Nick fired wade , he should of fired himself, he never really left.
PS If you want an engine built, stay away from ARE. They will take your hard earned money some quick.What I know now I wouldn't let them touch my wheelbarrel. I can't believe in my 53yrs that there are people out there like that but I guess there is. It should be AGE instead of ARE(Agostino Garbage Engines).
I want to thank everyone that had experience with ARE that replied to the first thread.
Now my Lawyer is taking care of it .The lying bast---s.I wish everyone luck with getting results from ARE, I couldn't use my car for over 2yrs.I'm thinking about taking my engine out and putting my stock engine back in and selling ARE engine for parts.

I agree. They've scammed SO many people from what I've heard and read. I hope everything works out for ya Clary and anyone else who has been scammed by ARE.

 

Thanks for the info on Chris and phone #. I called Chris at his shop and he said the pistons are no good for a blown engine,even with 4lbs of boost he don't recomend them.He said so ARE must of ordered them for an N/A engine. So my engine will have to come apart again and be built with the right pistons and rods. So it goes to show you that you can't believe anything that ARE tells you.
PS No I didn't threaten them , my lawyer will do that.

 

This is the EXACT reason why I built my engine myself. There are so many people out there who have gotten f-ed over by "reputable" speed shops. Who can you trust? I'd rather do my own research, do everything that I can myself, and do my best so that if something goes wrong, I can only blame myself. Nowadays, thats the only way to be sure that youre not getting worked over. Its a sad thing.

 

I hear ya, I do as much work as I can , and farm out mainly the machining to the recip assembly and or boring that needs to be done.

 

Exactly!!! I have one shop that I trust with my machine work and they do awesome work. Everything else, i'll handle.

 

That sucks dude, sorry to hear that. I'm not surprised though as many people have had bad dealings with ARE. It seems like 9 out 10 people get screwed in one way or another by these guys. They got alot of popularity by spraying big shots of nitrous, but in NA trim they can't match other tuners. You might want to post this on LS1.com in the internal engine section. The proprietor of ARE frequents that board and might contact you.

It is very difficult for me to believe ARE is even still in business. ARE is an absolutely horrible shop with no morales at all.

Just how many people need to get taken by this shop before people finally get the clue??

Way, way too many. Sorry to hear about ANOTHER Agostino Racing Engines horror story.

 

LOL....I ran into a guy last race season who had this "BAD" 383 built by ARE....It was an LT1 motor which was supposed to run 10.90s N/A...We happened to line up and I beat him by almost 10 cars on a crappy launch...11.80s @ 118ish to his 12.70ish (I forget...feverishly looking for slip) @ around 111 mph....maybe 10.90s are different in metric units...

Sorry to hear about you dealings with them...They'll get what they deserve in the end...

This was the second engine ARE built for me.The first one had 12.5to 1 compression for a blown engine,junk sent back.
I all was built my own engines and body and paint,so from reading gm high-tech telling people how good they are and Brook at callies crank telling me there the best in the world and talking
to people at ARE, So i wanted the best and got the worst.
From now on i do my own work and get the mechine work by Dannie Andrew at RanD SPEED SHOP.They had straightain the mess out on the second engine of ARE.

I have had problems with ARE ever since I started dealing with them 3-4 years ago. From Nick to Wade ...
I'm in the process of tearing down my engine myself because the stupid thing never worked on pump gas from day one. You wouldn't believe the poor workmanship i'm finding and what is in the engine versus the build sheet given to me from ARE. And I haven't finished examining the entire engine yet.

Don't get fooled by the Nick all of a sudden being in charge. It will be all the same **** as from day one... You have to wonder what type of establishment ARE is from the lack of professionalism over the years and how each and everytime, no matter what figure head is in charge, the same problems exist. Making false claims, Lying, cheating people, lack of professional engine building practice, ect....

 

Man that sucks.. I hope they eventually do good with ya man. I'd be talking with the Better Business Bureau about that if I were you.
