Thumbs up Aftermarket starters?

Guys, need a new starter for an AUTO LT1. I once installed a CSI model 100 or 101 on a MAN. LT1(worked great!), but do not know if it will work for my application. Im looking for an aftermarket starter only. Not wasting my time and $$ with that other parts store junk!

Is there any other brands CSI? Part #'s to help me get something better than a PepBoys starter?? Thanx!

CVR ProTorque... .$150 from JEG's...... rotates in 8 positions to clear headers, etc. (Last time I looked in the catalog, they only listed the "race" version of this starter, which is $250, but I'm pretty sure the $150 version - which my 381 just loves - is still available.

Which one is for our car? I see some starters for 153-tooth flywheel. Is this the one we want? 153-tooth?!

I know you said you didnt want to mess with junk starters from auto parts stores, but I just got one from advanced auto parts, and it works and sounds great. I had a friend whose starter went out and he went there and paid $122 for this starter. I thought it would be crap so I waited until I heard it and it sounds great. It didn't struggle to start his car and it comes with a lifetime warranty, so I decided to give it a try. My stock starter only lasted 3 weeks with my hotcam kit and higher compression, but this one has been doing fine. Starts with just a quick turn of the key. I also have an automatic and headers and, with a little effort, I got it up in there and bolted up. Hope this helps.

I second this mans suggestion. I have had it for about two years and no issues so far.

I can't remember what tooth it is though.

Thumbs down

Well so you guys know, I want to get the right quailty starter becuase I went to this small parts place and the guys give me some starter-try it out and its COMPLETLY wrong. So, I return it asking for the CORRECT one and the guy goes underneath the counter, and gives me one with out a box So, I install this POS, and whenever I start the car, there is a squeak from I guess my buddy said the pinion. Sometimes you can here the starter squeak when the car is driving-like it is spinning. It also barely starts the car. $180 worth of embarassment.

Worked fine in my M6, and just as well when I swapped in the TH400.
