put car back together and it backfires alittle bit????

The car starts up and runs perfect for about 1 min and then it starts to idile at like 500 rpms to 700rpms and it sounds like it is about to die but never does. When it hits really low it backfires and makes a pop noise. The hotter the engine gets the lounder the pop is. The pop happens every 10 seconds. What could it be?

Sounds like it could be that your timing is a little off.....bad plug wire or you have some plug wires swapped........

i checked and i have the plug wires in right, i just got brand new wires so i guess the timing

anything else it could be before i do the timing?

This was my first time to set my valves, they might be wrong, would that be make it backfire?
also i just put in some pinzoil instead of my mobil 1 just to see it it would start. That wouldnt be anything right? Im going to get some mobil 1 today though.

I had the exact same problem with my car... it would sometimes be fine but others it'd drop to 500 rpm...

EVENTUALLY this problem did cause the car to start stalling...

I've had so many different problems that I cannot remember now what I had to do to fix that... I'll look over my pile of receipts and try to figure it out...

Good luck either way...
