advantages of boring

yes another question, so my cylinder sleeves have aprox 3 thousandths of wear on each one. besides the extra 5 cubic inches gained by going .03 over stock what would i gain with new pistons and bored as opposed to standard bore honed with standard size pistons? this is going in with a stroker kit. i realize what the popular option is here but im trying to get as much information about every possible aspect here before i jump to any results. thanks again for everyones help

I would bore it out only as much as you have to.

Well, you need new pistons anyway, with a stroker crank. FWIW.

Re: advantages of boring

1. You get to correct the cylindricity of the bore. Meaning make it as close to round and straight as possible.

2. You get to correct the location of the bores relative to the crank.

3. You get a better choice of pistons

4. More bore for more flow.

Think of an engine as a big air pump. The more air you get in and out, the more power you'll make.
