acdelco wires $92 WTF

im gonna be doing a full tune up this weekend but when i went to work yesterday and checked the price of the ACDelco wires in the computer they were $92 ! arent these supposed to be the stock replacements/original equipment. i was gonna buy them b/c i dont really think it makes any sense to go with an aftermarket wires set b/c most of you heavily modded guys would call my bolt on car stock so i really wouldnt benefit from them, however taylors run around $40 somethin on summit and there supposed to better than stock . does anyone know why ac's are so expensive, is there anywhere i can find em for cheap?

hey, yeah ac delco's wires are expensive, and their platinum plugs are $5-6 each. I dont know why they're expensive, but anyway, I used taylor 8mm spiro pro's on my car and they good.

Have you tried the discounters, Dal Slabaugh or Jason Cromer?

There contact info is in this thread.

or try gmpartsdirect.com. I just bought a few replacement parts from them and they turned out to be about 60% of the dealer cost after shipping. BTW, if you are going for acdelco replacement wires, just go get some autolite wires or something from a local parts store. That is what i did on my dads car, unless you insist on ACDelco parts.

I know with my mods i wont see gains out of em but i figure scince i dont know where my car will be after the winter (mod wise) might as well get the good ones instead of buying wires twice

Get some Taylor Spiro pro 8mm wires in the stock premade lengths for $50 from Thunder. They fit just like stock wires and a lot nicer than the overpriced stockers.

Taylors are great wires. I cut and crimped my own and saved the aggravation of using the stock locations and went OVC. I recommend them though and buying the premade from Thunder too.

Has any one run Taylors for a long time that can attest to how well the last? My stock wires have 100k miles on them and hte car is still running good, obviously I am going to replace them soon, but I just dont see an aftermarket wire getting that much life. I might be wrong though.

They cost a lot cuz they are ac delcos. Everything ac delco cost a lot. i am goin with the accel race wires. I pick them up at oreily's tomorrow. They were 70 bucks with my buddies employee discount. I went with ac delco plugs though. they last! Thats one of the main reasons why I got them. They were like 55 bucks total, but I say its worth the peace of mind. Hope that helps.

What about the life of the Taylor wires guys? Should I spend the extra money for Ac Delco's, or will Taylors last?

I went with MSDs for $70 because of the better heat resistance (I was burning stockers because my aftermarket Y pipe flange being where it was), and the fact that the stock AC Delco wires feel like string. You can pull one apart easily by hand and they feel like they could be easily damaged/bent/crimped/cut by any number of things. The MSDs just feel like much better wires.
