accurate stock LT1 in Desktop Dyno?
accurate stock LT1 in Desktop Dyno?
does anyone have a file for an accurate stock LT1 for Desktop Dyno 2000? I have flow numbers from stock heads, stock cam timing, and the rest should be just plug and play but it still wants to list our motors as having only 230hp (flywheel) or so...
ok here are the files I am using:
http://web.infoave.net/~magius231/lt1_1996_stock.cam
http://web.infoave.net/~magius231/stock_al_lt1.flw
http://web.infoave.net/~magius231/stocklt1.dyn
loading these up you will notice that power peak is 219HP@3500RPM which is way off...
thanks guys

There has to be something wrong with thos cam specs, I also ran It and it gave somewhat of the same results you have, then I changed the cam to the default stock/street economy cam and it gave me 298@4,500
well the cam timing came from the LT1 cam R&R site...I plugged in the values for my XE 230-236 and it still peaks at 5000RPM (with small tube headers/mufflers) Something about this doesn't seem right...I got the timing figures straight off the cam card too...I'm wondering if I am reading it wrong or something now...
My dyno2003 came with a cam file from a comp cam and it says it is "best for origional LT1 with stock computers." And it comes to 296hp @ 4,500-5,000rpm and 278hp @ 5,500rpm. The valve event timing is as follows. Remember that these numbers are at optimum performance with a perfect tune, so this is likely very close to the stock cam.
seat-to-seat .050
IVO:23 -5
IVC:63 35
EVO:76 48
EVC:20 -8
InD:266 210
ExD:276 220
This leads me to belive that the IVC of 29.5 and EVC of -23.5 are off as the other valve events are close.

thanks, thats definitely a little better, but it still peaks at 288@4000RPM...5500RPM is making 233HP. What flow numbers for heads and whatnot are you using for that figure?
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
Hmmm, I loaded up some specs I dug up on LT1s and got 294 hp at about 5000 RPM. I figure that's about right, desktop dyno is figuring a perfect tune, and probably no loss from turning an AC compressor etc. In my opinion the torque was waaaaaaay off, it was something like 385 ft. lbs.
The file got corrupted, so I had to reinstall it, I'll probably be playing around with it some more this week.
