Accel Opti Arrived! Pics inside.

I ordered one of those Accel Opti's for $199 from JC Whitney about a week ago. It showed up in the mail today. Heres some pics for those who may be curious.

My opti isn't dead, but I've noticed the car stumbling pretty heavily after a heavy rain so I figure, why not do a little preventative maintainance. I will be replacing my coil as well, probably with an Accel unit. My car has 104,000 miles on it. I figured the opti was a good deal, so figured why not try the Accel unit. Hopefully it'll be installed in the next week or 2.

Besides it being from Accel (aftermarket and associated with high performance) and it's waaaaay cheaper than a new OEM?

I don't know

I was curious about how well it stacks up against the MSD unit as well considering the big price difference and all.

Its just a new alternative to OEM. Its a piece advertised to be better than OEM, which ended up costing me less than an OEM piece. The $199 price is only at JC Whitney though. I believe it was advertised $269 at Summit. Its also much cheaper than the other aftermarket opti's out there.

I wish I could get my hands on a stock unit to compare the craftsmanship. Hopefully it'll hold up and perform well.

It looks pretty much the same as the factory one; even has those stupid-@$$ star-headed fasteners for the cap. I'm surprised Accel didn't change that to make it easier to change the cap/rotor. Maybe the guts of it are better?

The Accel ad states it has an oil-lite bushing.
I'm not sure about the un-vented Opti-Spark, but I know for a fact the OEM vented Opti-Spark has a ball bearing -- I've had several apart.

I wonder how the bushing will last compared to a ball bearing.

Same here , and I don't see these holding up much (if any) better than OEM...hopefully I'm wrong.
