AC problems

I have had a recurring problem with the AC. I haven't cared but it is summer now and its getting really hot in a black car. My dad and I messed around with out. Pulled out about a 1 lb of free-on, then charged it and put 2 lbs back it. The AC started to blow cold and continued for the rest of the day. After work today, I went to put the AC on and it wont blow cold.

There is still free-on in the system. Any clues? Leak?

Thanks in advance.

The compressor is the key to the whole system......somehow you need to check to see if it is working. Can you feel it kick on when you turn the AC on.

I've got a similar thing going. I think mine is actually leaking very slowly at the low pressure fill port, gotta see if I can get a replacement valve stem for inside the port. Low freon will cause the system to not activate the compressor, so don't rule it out. Not sure if all freon has the leak detector dye in it or not, but you might give that a shot.
