75 Shot ruin engine?
75 Shot ruin engine?
In the ultimate goal for speed, i must beat my friends formula that runs 13.0. I just had the engine rebuilt and am thinking about spraying, but i want this engine to last 100k miles or or longer. If i spray a 75 shot, will my engine be safe throughout its whole life. Or will that still wear it out in 30k miles? Also i saw that dry system is ruffly $300 cheaper than a wet kit...is a 75 shot safe on that if i dont upgrade my fuel system? Or is that asking to break something? Im running 14.1 now with 4.10s beign installed in the beginning of august, any chance i can catch his LS-1??
Any info is appreciated,
Bill

Its going to take 100 shot or more to beat that LS1. And your better off doing it with a 3.42 than a 4.10. Forget about traction with a 4.10 and nitrous in 1st and 2nd gear.
Set up correctly a 75-100 should not hurt anything or cause it to wear out faster. Unless you spray really often. If you spray 5-6 times a summer (1 bottle) I wouldnt worry about it.

a bottle or 2 a year with a shot 100 or under wont really hurt anything. But more than that and you will have premature wear.
nitrous for street use can last you longer than track use, you dont have to spray for as long on the street.

If your fuel pumps weak it can take one shot to destroy the engine, Verify your fuel and ign system then slap on the nitrous and go, I ran about a bottle a month with a 100 shot for 3 years on my car, no problems. I used a ign timing retarder and reduced the plug gap to .035 (do not use the stock GM plugs use some nice NGKs). At the time my car was running a 13.6 off the bottle and on it would run a 12.40 with a 100 shot.
