AC Oil Filter part numbers change?
Neither Wal-Mart nor Kmart sell AC anymore. If KMART still did, you could probably stock up on them real cheap when they finally go under.
Somebody actually said the Wal Mart filters weren't bad. I'd be scared of them myself, at least on something I cared about.

How would you lose pressure with a larger filter
If you do not add enough oil than a larger capacity filter will increase the chance of uncovering the pickup, that would be bad. You do need to add more oil to the system when using a larger filter, but that's one of the benefits. It takes some pretty nasty oil to clog a filter, but if it is that bad the larger filter will clog later than a smaller one (if there filtering media's surface area corresponds to case size, like the PF35 and PF25 do)

The Walmart's Supertech filter is made by Champion Labs, it's a very high quality filter for the money! Champion Labs also makes the K&N, Mobil 1, Bosch Premium, STP and they used to make the Ultraguard Gold.
Supertech is a 20 micron filter.

Walmart's oil is made by a subsidiary of Quaker State and I've seen a virgin oil analysis on it (new oil) and it doesn't look too bad for the money.
If I were going with a conventional oil though I'd spend a few extra pennies and go for Castrol GTX though. No sense running the Walmart oil just to save $1.50 at oil change time.

the Pf25 and things like it have more than enough filtering capacity even for long oil change intervals... people only want larger filters for the increase in oil capacity... why more oil is good i dunno the car already holds more than enough to keep everything covered... btw i ONLY use mobil 1 synthetic 5w-30 and ac filters... i was considering a "k&n" oil filter that they have on their website but its almost 15 bucks with shipping... sounds like a waste to me...
Champion labs makes the Valvoline as well, but I'm not sure of the specs.
Also, the reason you want more oil is because more oil means less stress overall on the oil. I run 5.5 qts in my LT1 with the long filter. Also, a longer filter holds more dirt and provides less restriction to oil flow. There is no reason NOT to run a longer oil filter.
Here are two links that I'm aware of that I believe both have the K&Ns under $10 with free shipping:

Oh well, i think the Esso should be sufficient - have you seen any analysis on this stuff?

Champion filters must be good. Like I said, the oil in my wife's car looked much cleaner than it ever has after I changed it.
Also, I went in another AutoZone looking for a PF25. They had the display that said the PF 454 is replacing the PF 25. I just don't understand it.
