Angry Above 80 mph vibration.

I'm experiencing a bad vibration above 80 mph. It never did this before I had the u-joints replaced (by the dealer). could this be the cause or is it unrelated. BTW the vibration seems to be coming from the rear of the car.

Re: Above 80 mph vibration.

Sounds to me like your technician bent your driveshaft when he changed your u-joint. It's common to set the driveshaft in the vise and beat out the u-joint and he probably hit it in the wrong spot. He also shoud have caught the vibration in the test drive. Could just be a bad u-joint too. I would get under the car and check the driveshaft all the way around by the u-joints and see if theres a bent spot before you go to accusing people of doing things. But if there is a problem take it back and its their bill not yours they broke it.

get an aluminum 1LE or LS1 driveshaft and your problem should be solved.

Did you have the vibration before the U joint swap (and that's why you had the U joints replaced)? If so, go with an aluminum driveshaft. If it started after the U joint install, take it back to the dealer to fix.

Re: Above 80 mph vibration.

if it is the dealers fault and they have to replace your ds, tell them you will pay the difference for the upgrade. That way you don't come out of pocket for the whole thing.

My car does the same damn thing. I was told to replace the driveshaft with an aluminum and all would be solved. Haven't gotten around to doing it yet but will in the future.

Re: Above 80 mph vibration.

What about a carbon fiber one? How do those work? I kind of experienced this after my transmission mount swap. It vibrates a little more all the time. Not really sure if it was part of the driveshaft. But soon I'll be rebuilding my tranny, Strange 12 bolt, with a new driveshaft.

Thanks everyone, I'm going to take it back to the dealer. No the vibration wasn't there before I had the u-joints replaced, they were just worn out and squeaking badly.

Re: Above 80 mph vibration.

mine used to vibrate after about 120mph. 80 seems kinda low for vibration.
