anyone else have trouble keeping FIPK on?
anyone else have trouble keeping FIPK on?
okay im starting to get pissed off... about once a week i have to check my intake and make sure my K&N filter is still on my FIPK... No matter how tightly i get it on there (which by the way is the biggest pain in the *** i have ever had) it always manages to just sort of fall of and roll around in that little compartment
sooo anyone have any ideas short of epoxing it on? anyone else seem to have these problems.? reall dont like the thought of my car not using an filter...

Re: anyone else have trouble keeping FIPK on?
I used to have this problem and It would **** me off because I didnt know how long it was off for and what kind of
was in there but I finally learned to tighten it down hard enough to where even in these massive
pot holes, bass, and little tj ave road it will not loose up or fall. Just pust it up as far as it goes with one hand and tighten with the other...its hard but ull get used to it after a while and it gets easy...

Re: anyone else have trouble keeping FIPK on?
it took me forever to get that piece of crap secured both the filter and the rubber part on the throttle body. they just kept sliding off. the filter is hard as hell to put on too.
Re: anyone else have trouble keeping FIPK on?
well at least im not the only special person when it came to this... and ive had it on 2 cars and for 5 years.... (maybe its time for a new intake

How does the connection at between your mass airflow sensor and intake elbow comes off??? U sure the clamps are on right???
I had a 6" screw i got at autozone that made the tighttening aaaa lot
easier for the Cone filter because it gave me more space to move my hand
around and turn the screw driver..

Re: anyone else have trouble keeping FIPK on?
here is what I did..if I didnt have a buddy push down on it while I was under the car I just floded up a towel and closed my hood, kept pressure down on the CAI and let me slip the filter on. Yes it is a PITA and I think I will go check mine right now

Re: anyone else have trouble keeping FIPK on?
I have the SLP intake...those filters were a b!tch to put on, especially since you have to do it from the bottom.
Grr...speaking of which, its about time to clean those mothers...

Re: anyone else have trouble keeping FIPK on?
Heres What I do whenever I remove and clean the filter... After re-Oiling or removing the filter for ANY reason take a wet, very slightly soapy cloth/paper towel and just wipe the contact area, removing any oil or grease. Do this on the Tube connected on the car AND on the inside part air filter where it connects.
Then install it as described above with someone pushing down on the tube. OR if nobodys around I can sometimes jam a towel all around it really really tightly so that it doesn't move up when you push on it.
Mine has never fallen off after a cleaning
The key is to make sure its on all the way and FREE of oily residue which can often be left on it after oiling the filter.

Re: anyone else have trouble keeping FIPK on?
Same problem with the K&N. Mines only come off twice in about 5 years. So i figure everytime that it falls off, its time to clean it. That is after I finally realize the stupid thing is off again. Maybe thats how they make sure people clean the things because they are a bitch as everyone knows to get back on once they come off.
Re: anyone else have trouble keeping FIPK on?
i have never had a problem with them. i do as a couple other people mentioned, and put an old towel, shirt, or whatever on top of the tube and then shut the hood on it so it applies pressure on the tube to keep it from moving when you push the filter on. you can also scuff the finish on the end of the tube with some 60-80 grit sandpaper to help the rubber on the filter grip better
