Guys, my 97 SS is sill dead two months ago and I am helpless I dont know what to do!
I will explain my problem again with the new findings:
I was driving my 97 SS and accelerating a bit .. in a while .. the car started to act as if there is no enough petrol then engine died. I pulled over and towed the car home and since that day it is parked over there.
Now, I can crank and start the engine, it stays on for 2 seconds then dies.
I found that if I keep reving the engine by pushing on the gas paddle on and off then engine keeps reving but as soon as I stop, the engine dies immidiatly. When engine starts (for the seconds that last) the engine sounds very normal, no smell of extra fuel and no dark smoke from the exhaust.
I changed the Fuel filter. I could hear the pump clicking fine, and I tested the fuel pressure and it was fine.
No Error codes available - I used my Hypertech Tuning module. Also there is no check engine sign.
I have the following addons installed :
Powerdyne Supercharger, MSD, Hypertech Programmer, TransGo, Torque convertor, Borla Exhaust with Headers.
The Supercharger is working fine I can tell by the pressure gauge. I have also checked the Fuel regulator that comes with the Powerdyne and it is not cloged or anything.
I have only 18,000 miles on the car and it is brand new I use to use it only on weekends.
Would really appreciate your help as I do not want to take it to the dealer cause the people overthere will confuse the whole thing once they know I have after market parts on it, and no proffessional Mechanics in this part of the world.
What should I check and where to start from here ...
Please I missed driving this car.
Thanks

What is the fuel pressure while it's 'running'?
I agree, it sounds like what happened when my fuel pump went out. Check and make sure your getting good fuel pressure, if not put a fuel filter in it and it that doesn't help I bet its the fuel pump.Originally Posted by fastchevy

The Engine doesnt idle so I had around 35 psi after the pump primes while Engine not running.

See my reply above. You have the same symptoms my car had when my opti took a poop this past september. I thought it was a fuel related problem too. I was wrong. A new GM opti fixed my car. Your fuel pressure does seem a little low, but with 35psi it would at least still start.Originally Posted by Abdulrahman

what about vacuum lines, mine were dry rotted, its worth a shot

You could be right! However, replacing the opti is a big job, is there a way to be more sure that the cause is the opti-spark before we go into such replacement?Originally Posted by Colin91Z

Shouldn't the opti through some codes? I did the scanning and no codes are available.

An opti failure **might** throw a misfire code, and thats about it. If its not starting at all, then pull a plug wire and check for spark. If there is no spark, then this leaves you with either a bad ignition control module, a bad coil, or a bad optispark. The opti is obviously the most likely of the three to fail.Originally Posted by Abdulrahman

Just to try eliminate the easy stuff. The fuel pressure with key on, engine off, should be around 39 psi. After the key is off it should hold that pressure for a couple of hours. With the engine running and the vacuum line off disconnected and plugged, the fuel pressure should be around 44-45 psi. If you don't get those kind of readings, I'd look for problems in the fuel delivery system.
If you do get reasonable fuel pressure readings, I guess thorough examination of the ignition system is next.
