96z28 convert LT1 ignition to LS1

is it possible to convert the old style LT1 ignition to the newer type LS1, if so what are the problems and the cost. I hate the LT1 igniton, its almost impossible to work on...

You can get 1/2-way there.

Purchase the LTCC conversion from Bailey Engineering. That system uses only the optical signals from the Opti to feed a black box, that drive 8 LS1 coils in direct fire mode. By removing the high voltage functions from the Opti, it appears to extend its life and reliability. I've been running a similar setup for 6 years now.

There is a similar system from Delteq that uses a black box to drive the Northstart V8 IC Module and a 4-coil pack setup in waste-spark mode.
