My 94 z A4 does not have a position to put the car in first. Im fairly sure that I have seen other years with a first gear. Im wondering If I could switch it out or something?

Anyone know what I am talking about??

You have a 2.73 rear gear ratio. To get 1st gear remove shift **** and plate. Move shifter done to 2nd gear,there you will see
a black piece of plastic stopping the shifter from going down farther.Take a knife and cut the little piece of plastic out and now you have 1st gear. Cars with the 2.73 gear had some sort of noise restriction at certain speeds and gear.

 

i dotn have it either...i think it means that you gears is 2:73...you can take a little plastic that is holding the tranny, so that it can shift to 1st...i did it......good luck
