Say huh? Red Light bulb? It should be just a bright orange/red plastic piece that moves with the shifter... just tack the console apart and take a lookie......

I took the console apart...i am not talking about that orange thign that lets you know what gear you are in...there is actually a red small light bulb...and it is not just for show..its wired into a huge spindle of wires.

took the console apart before, and i dont remember a huge bundle of wires, but i remember a bulb for the trans gear selector to light it at night? Maybe yours fell out? If it isnt affecting anything major (like the car not starting) then dont worry about man

I was thinking a car alarm also....its def not anything that i know about with a gear selector...i think its an alarm...i have owned other camaro;s and none of them have had what i am talkin about....also the red light was spliced into the large amoutn of other wires (this def wasnt spliced like that from the factory)

Damn cars that owners fail to mention things about.

I have a Trans Am, but this still might apply to your Camaro...my TA's console has a light bulb in the ashtray and one near the console lid opening. Maybe it just fell out of it's holding bracket?

Too afraid to visit desolate Kansas huh? I'd stay there too...

I agree with the others then, if it's aftermarket then I can only imagine it must be part of an alarm system.

Its red right?
It is the status indicator of an aftermarket alarm system.
I have one for my Python alarm.
You should have gotten a key fob that operates the alarm unless it broke and the previous owner just said phuk it and quit using it.
