95z Still won't start

Drove it to work one day it backfired, ran like chit. Parked it at work, hasn't started since. I have replaced the following: Optispark (brand new complete), timing chain, spark plugs, fuel pump. Same problem. I don't have spark when I am turining it over, but when the key goes back to the on position I get spark. Then the car stunbles and dies. I checked the opti harness and in the on position I do not have 10vdc on A or D. Coil, ecm, and ICM are already ruled out ( These were swapped off of a running 94z that still runs). I am at a stand still right now.

Just a long shot but what kind of shape is your key?? Maybe your resistor chip is worn. Do you have a spare key?? If not get a new key cut and try it. If it is not the problem you will at worst have a spare key.

Check the switch behind the key tumbler - from your statment that when you turn the key back on you will get spark leads me to believe that you might have a bad/worn out module back there. Might be able to bypass it for a test with the wiring at the bottom of the stearing column...

Re: 95z Still won't start

Well after disabling V.A.T.S. it finally (been working on this for a month) started. Thank you very much for all the input you guys gave me. The only thing that really sucks about my car is that is has an odb2 connector on an obd1 system. Thanks to shoebox's website that problem was solved. Once again thanks.
