95 Z28 trouble

my camaro when under acceleration would skip like a misfire then straighten up and run fine. it would throw a the SES light.....this happened thurs and friday, the light went off after that but tonight i hooked the laptop up to it and got these codes.
84......3-2 downshift failure fault(odm)
36......Hi-Res Failure
42......est grounded
77......Fan 1 Fault(odm)

84 & 77 have been on before but they dont throw the SES and havent effected anything

i'll describe this a little more.....the car did it once thurs night, it then threw the ses light and the light went off when the ignition was turned off....friday it did it twice, everytime is under hard acceleration and it threw the SES again which went away after the ignition was shut off......i tried to get it to do it sat and it wouldn't do it at all and today i got the laptop hooked up to it and got these codes.....the car runs fine otherwise.....oh and also twice last week i fired the car up and it immediately shut off like i turned the key off, no ses light. and i fired it back up both times and ran fine

Maybe somebody with a shop manual can figure the common cause out. I have a OBD2 so my manual doesn't have these same code numbers.

same boat as you.
it will get worse. to the point it wont restart when it gets hot, and then will not start without a lot of assistance.

i just orderd my opti from thepartsladi today 295+12 shipping. they have them in stock.
you have a chevelle also, so i assume you do your own work?
dicking around i got the w/p and opti off in an hour and half.
its a very simple task to atleast tear it down.

good luck.

Check the wiring harness for the Opti. Look for corrosion or damaged pins. Check both ends of it, at the Opti and up on the bracket on the passenger side of the intake manifold.

The DTC 84 code description you listed is for an A4. With your M6, it indicates you've disconnected the skip shift solenoid. You can eliminate that with a 2000 ohm resistor in the harness connector for the solenoid.

ok thanks fred, I will check out the connections....Im not sure what was done to the skip shift, it was done before i got it. the skip shift light will come on but i can still use all the gears. DTC 84 wont throw the SES light so i never really worried much about it. What do ya know about DTC 77 Fan 1 Fault?.............Thanks

it appears that the opti is getting heat soaked......the car can be ran for a while and it's fine, once it gets hot is when it'll break-up and backfire really loud. Then it will throw the SES and it straightens up.......Also when the car is at running temp and it's shut off, it will have trouble starting.....If it gets to cool down it'll fire right up with no trouble.....If this sounds like the Opti is on it's last leg I'll be ordering it in the next day or so........Thanks again
