so recently i accidentally drove through a puddle, car backfired, stalled and wouldnt start afterwards. i replaced the distributor opti not the cap and rotor and put ngk plugs ignition coil as well as the module and finally got it running. when i crank it , it takes a good few tries for it to start will idle high and feels like huge misfire as well as some smoke coming from the intake and exhaust then it stumbles and stalls since ive been trying to get it started there is no coolant no trans fluid due to the radiator being taken out also its open headers right now.. can someone give me a good description on what to do as well as some diagnostic aid.

 

Welcome. My first suggestion is to try the tech forums.

 

If you're confident you have spark, I would check fuel pressure and make sure you're getting fuel to the rail. It would be coincidental that a fuel pump went when getting the opti wet, but you rule something out.

 

i found out the maf is bad had open circuit no ground. however heard if you unplug maf goes in to fail safe mode, did that and smoke is coming from intake and exhaust at same time...would anybody think its timing chain or spark timing? and my fuel pump is always on i can hear it.

 

Did you drive through a puddle the size and depth of a lake? Puddles should not do that to an LT1.

You say you replaced the opti, but not the cap and rotor....worded like that, to me, means that you replaced nothing. So...I'm guessing you replaced something connected with the opti system...just not sure what. What brand component did you use?

Did you pull the intake for any reason? What was the need in taking the radiator out?
