Would that cause it to act like it wasnt getting gas? Also, is there any way to check it?

The only way of checking if the MAF is bad is to unplug it and see if it does the same thing or try someone elses MAF (or buy a new one). My Z did act like it wasn't getting gas when the MAF went bad.
