Mild cam with some supporting mods, in this order:

cool air intake, cat back, headers, gears,160* thermostat w/ tune, cam (with new springs and rocker arms, stall converter.

If you do your home work, you can get all this done for less then 2500 over time. alittle less if you buy some used parts

I'm assuming you are looking for 300 at the wheels. Full bolt-ons should get you in the ballpark, ie: full exhaust, cold air intake, tune, rocker arms, ect. A mild cam such as the Hotcam will definitely put you there though.

There are other ways to be quicker than just adding more HP.

Agreed, people think you need gobs of HP to be fast (which you do) but think about some suspension mods. I do a little bit of both, suspension and power mods, because if you get all that power, how do you expect to get it to the ground??

I've seen extremely quick cars running in the 12's with no more than 300-320HP, the cars are just set up right.

If you have a M6, then 300 rwhp can be had with headers($500-600), catback($200-$350), CAI($150-$200) and 1.6 RR's($250-$300) and a mail order tune.($75)

That will put you a little over 342 HP at the flywheel

Agreed. A car with a converter, gears, some suspension work, and a good set of tires can click off some good time despite not having an insane amount of power.

why does everyone think that you need so many parts to hit 300 rwhp, cams, heads, **** like that you talking around 350 rwhp and thats probably mildy ported heads and a small cam, all you need a some good long tube headers, cai, electric water pump. simple things, these guys are telling you to spend thousands, well dont listen

bla, I don't consider a stock car w/ nitrous a "fast" car, it's a fast track car but thats it. You don't have power on tap, say you get into a scramble w/ some import, a full bolt on lt1 can jsut romp on it and be done. You gota open your bottle and spend a few bucks to waste nitrous. To me thats not the route to go. IMO
