Unhappy 94Z with a bunch of problems - need help !!!!!

ohhh
so far i haven't been able to drive my car this year

Ive tried to start it since June. after changing the battery with no result i had to call my mechanic for the advice. after all test , he said it was ignition module.
Once i changed it - still no start. The car was chocking and coughing like it is about to start, but didn't. had to tow it to the shop.
Now after following changes:
1 Spark plugs to Delco platinum
2 MSD wires
3 MSD Cap and Rotor
4 MSD Coil
5 Ignition module
6 New Battery

the car is still as far from the road as it was. it starts and starts throwing the codes right away.

with MSD 6A connected or disconnected (doesn't make any difference)
here are the following codes:

16 - Low Resolution Puls
42 - Ignition control circuit
41 - NO Ignition control circuit
36 - Distributor Ignition sensor
48 - MAF sensor error
46 - Pass-Key II (VATS) system error - circuit out of freq range
18 - ???
33 - MAP sensor circuit error (signal high indicating low vacuum)
51 - PROM error

after about 3 minutes of very rough ideal it gets to about 0.908 steady (more or less) and in a few minutes after it starts chocking on the very reach mixture, after which it just dies.
The re-start takes quite a few tries with the pedal all the way to the floor and the car trying to burn all the fuel in the cylinders. It does starts and produces a very heavy black smoke after which the cycle goes one again but shorter.

my mechanic is trying to figure it out so do I

please help

Sorry Man
what coolant temp have to do with it??
BTW - it is normal

So Far I can only think of 3 things

1. OPTI
2. MAF causing some sort of weird chain of reactions
3. ECM went completely out ow wack

It was a very logical question. If the coolant temp sensor (the one in the water pump housing) has a faulty circuit, it may be telling the PCM the coolant is at -40*F, and the PCM would set an extremely rich mixture for cold start, and it would never change if the indicated coolant temp didn't change.

What do you mean by:

Are you saying the O2 sensors are reading 0.908 Volts (908 milliVolts)?

With all those codes, you may have a faulty PCM ground.

DTC 18 = faulty injector circuits

checked coolant temp sensor - it shows the right data on scanner.
What else can it be???

Go to shoebox's website and read the opti test portion. Yours sounds alot like mine and it turned out to be the opti. I only had 74,000 on the clock when it crapped out. Also I would unplug the MAF and force it into speed density mode and see if that helps. A bad MAF can make a car run rough. One other thing is when you unplugged the spark plugs did you do them one at a time or unplug them all? You could have gotten some swapped or even burned some on the exhaust manifold. Good luck with it.

I had a completely broken coolant temp sensor in my car (check threads)...and it still ran great...just had ****ty as mpg and fans wouldn't turn on. I dropped the sensor before installing it..though nothing of it. But that must have broke it. That wouldnt account for your car running that bad is what Im saying. Get a datalogger and see what everything reads.

Sounds definitely like a fuel issue...could try the temp sensor (they are only $10 at AZ) but I would look at maby some leaky injectors? Pop them out and see if any gas drips out.

I dont get why there are so many random codes...Perhaps most of them are caused by the miss fire due to excessive fuel?

Did you check the opti wiring harness. Mine gave me issues with a new opti, the plug was a little messed up
