Would you care to tell us the model and manufacturer of the scantool?

 

Just to emphasize the importance of reading the codes FIRST, this is what the code description for DTC 46 indicates:

CKT 229 ia a dark blue wire from the theft deterrent module to the PCM pin A25, and supplies the 50Hz signal the PCM is looking for in order to enable the fuel system.

DTC 46 does NOT turn on the SES light.

 

when I scanned it, it was set on the year 1991 and that's the code I got with it DTC 47, when I realized it was on the wrong year I changed it to the year of my car 94, the reader keeps saying to check cable and now will not connect, just at work will check make and model of the reader after work

it was DTC 47, don't know if that matters

 

DTC 47 indicates the knock sensor module is missing, or circuit is bad. But if you had the scanner set to the wrong year/engine, it may not be valid.

ok just got home from work the code reader is innova 3120

 

and its got 12 pins

 

Innova 3120??? Now where have I heard that before... Oh yes, I wrote a scathing review on it. It won't work on your car despite what anyone says.

I found a work-around to reading the correct trouble codes but it's a bit tedious. See the above topic, posts 6 and 7.

 

got it all back together with a new optispark, hasn't shut off yet but now my car is overheating, it didn't overheat before so now what

 

Sounds like the air hasn't been fully bled from the cooling system.

 

Did you fill it correctly?

 

forgot about the bleed valve its all good now, took it for spin ran strong didn't shut off once, so i'am hoping this has fix the problem, I'll take it for a longer ride tomorrow,
