94 wont connect to scanner

My 94 has not been wanting to crank so I thought I would hook up the scanner. It would not connect period. I entered the cars info and it tried but kept saying connection failed. Coould the computer be bad?

Computer failures are rare. What scanner? Do you have the correct cable? Can you try another scanner?

Re: 94 wont connect to scanner

I will get the name of the scanner. It is a loaner from Oriellys. It does obd1 and 2. Connector is the correct one. I bought a running parts car the other day so I could check it on that. The car actually started finally but seems to flood itself out.

Scanner is an Innova CanOBD 2&1 reader.

Re: 94 wont connect to scanner

Unless the scanner is internal battery powered, it may require power from the vehicle's ALDL connector. There is no 12V pin in the 94 OBD-I connector. See note above about powering it from the cig lighter.
