I have been running 87 in my car for the past couple of times that I have filled up because the price is so high and I havent noticed anything different in the way the car runs. Seems to me that they are about the same. Thats just my opinion.

last summer my dad borrowed my car and he put 87 in it. When I got back into my car it had no power. next fill up with premium and all was good. I assume the computer was retarding the timing. There were no misses and it ran fine, just down on power.

A long time ago. A friend of mine put 87 in my Z, without me knowing it. Later that day I heard audible knock and ping. I didn't have a scanmaster at the time, so I don't know how much timing was being pulled. Well I figured it out and topped it off with 92. The knock went away immediately. I'd stay away from it if I were you.

The misfiring you speak of could be more than just a low octane gas. It could be a number of things. I would stick with a higher octane gas because high compression engines need higher octane gas. LT1 are high compression engines and would benifit from higher octane gas. As far as your miss. I would put new plugs and wires in it. I just did it to my car last week. Buy my problem ended up being the opti-spark. But try plugs and wires. Putting new O2 sensors in will help your gas milage out too!! Good luck

if the car is required to run premium gas, why wouldn't you?? you're damn lucky you have knock sensors or these posts would turn into "i blew a hole through my piston after running 87 octane"
