you can run a 6" rod with the stock crank. As for balancing, you need the rank rods and pistons....Talk to the machine shop and see if they want the bearings as well, some shops may.....

So i can run a 6" or a 5.7 just have to have the right pin height piston? is there any advantage disadvantage? I think in the unforeseen future I may or may not build a 383 so that would be a reason to run a 6” rod right? Thanks for your help guys

Longer rods increase TDC dwell time, which IIRC makes the engine a little more detonation-resistant. It also improves rod/crank/piston geometry, which can reduce the wear rate on the cylinder walls. Handles high RPM better too.

Exactly.....now as for with a stock 350 I don't think you'll get too much out of it, but with a longer throw crank you'll not only pick up cubes, you'll get some tq and power

The differences between them will be minimal.

Because cubes = torque and power.
