4th opti DTC16

ok guys something is just not right can someone please tell me what to look for i have even bought a Dynaspark Opti and paid 500 for it and it lasted 3000miles my car starts my rpms jump up and down and it stalls with a code 16 can a weak ICM, COIL, WIRES ARCHING cause this I am not buying another Opti till i get the basics figured out this will be my 5th opti when my car does run it feels like a neon can beat me its so weak with this lost power

Have you checked the condition of the Opti harness connectors, on both ends (gray connector on the side of the intake manifold, and the connector that pushes into the Opti)?

Opti

Yes its one of those Dynaspark ones with the wireing harness built in to it. Its just really weird going through all these it has to be something shorting out these sensors or something. my coil is arching on the sides and my icm is old as heck could any of those be causing this to happen i can also see some of my plugwires arching on the ovc style with taylor wires

I've never had any luck with any other opti brand that ac delco. I use stock opti's with MSD cap and rotors.

To answer your question the coil may not be helping your power. I'm still running my stock icm and i have 170k on my car.

If you've got high voltage arcing at the distributor, its possible the voltage is discharging near the harness wires for the optical module, and overloading the module.

opti

Yea it seems the opti is just going out when the car drives about 10miles then it will just shut off and i can start it till about 3 hours
