4L65E anyone?

Guys,
I just got done rebuilding my shortblock(dropped a valve and put a silver dollar sized hole in #7 piston) at the same time I had the tranny rebuilt. My trans guy told me the last time I rebuilt the tranny that if it blew agian he was going to rebuild it with 4L65E parts. He had gone to several seminars on it and was empressed with it. He said all the hard parts were much stonger than the 4L60E parts. So now I have a 4L60E with 4L65E hard parts. Has anyone else done this and what do you guys think? Is it worth the upgrade? I have rebuilt my tranny 4 times in five years, but I do run a 4500lb car at the strip.

the 4l65 is fairly new. they made some significant changes, such as a 5 gear planetary instead of the 4 gear in the 4l60.

i believe they also strengenthed the sun shell (it's early and brain isnt on yet).

other then that,it's basically the same.

My 4l60e has held up to 2 years of low 11 sec abuse and the fluid looks new.

Maybe yes, or maybe no.... but you would have better luck posting this in the "Drivetrain" forum, where I believe there have already been threads on the 4L65E.
