400rwhp?
Re: 400rwhp?
It goes without saying that nitrous is the easiest way to hit 400rwhp. Sure, you dont have 400 hp all the time, but the question is do you *need* it all the time? It would cost about $1000-1400 to do it properly.
Re: 400rwhp?
Hate to break it too you but Spraying it would be the most reliable. Heads Cam set ups will spin the stock shortblock too high in most applications and will spin bearings and such. Supercharging it is too much for the stock bottom as it is high compresion and will blow the motor eventually.
Your best bet is to spray N20 on it, or go with a LE2 set up. But I wouldnt want a H/C car as a daily driver if your going to beat on it alot. Its too prone to spinning a bearing or something.

Re: 400rwhp?
Ehh, on second thought, I think I would rather have the H/C set up cause its always there. And sounds so much better doing it. Either way though, your not going to be as reliable as you would be at 300RWHP. If you want to push your car that hard, you should have or be looking at another cheap vehicle just incase ... How many miles are on it?
Re: 400rwhp?
I've got 2 N/A strokers. One has a big solid roller and made 606 FWHP. That is fun on the track, but gets to be a pain on the street. The other one made 398 RWHP (relatively small cam), and is great to drive on the street as well as the track. Although you can get good numbers with heads/cam, the torque of a stroker is quite addicting.
Properly tuned and well-built, a stroker will be very reliable and have great driveability IMHO. Certainly possible with a boosted engine, but I think a lot more difficult to do well from what I've seen.

Re: 400rwhp?
If you want it to be reliable and a daily driver I would do a head/cam setup with Llyod Elliot. That way it will give u chance to freshen up the motor and decided what kinda of setup you want to do. It all depends on how much money you have to spend and what power you want to make.
Re: 400rwhp?
The motor will be rebuilt to take whatever i do. If i boost it will be built for it. If i do h/c i will build for it. Im just wondering what the easiest way to do this is. I would really like to boost it since no one in my area has it. The only thing from keeping me from going that way is all the bugs you have to work out. Also i think boost is harder on the engine. If im wrong please let me know. There is no way im going to spray this motor so there is no need to talk about that. All i want is 400hp tell me what i need to do.
Re: 400rwhp?
Boost makes a great daily driver and boosted 400rwhp will most likely be easier on the gas than a h/c 400rwhp. With boost you get a better power curve and dont need to use a lot of gear to keep it in the curve.
