383 and IAC readings

My IAC readings are in the 80 range after my build up. I adj. the blades back once and forward three times. My readings haven't changed much. My tps voltage moved a little from .62 to .66. My cam is a 224-236,.573-.576/115. Do I keeep adjusting the blades to get the readings down or is there a certain point where it won't affect anything? I also posted in the forced induction forum but no real help yet. Thanks guys.....John

Re: 383 and IAC readings

IAC readings should be around 30 idling warm if I remeber correctly. If they are higher than the motor isnt getting enough air at idle and its opening up.

Fist thing you need to do is adjust the TPS to about .55v Im not sure if yours is off enough to affect anything, but it wouldnt hurt to adjust it.

What Throttle body are you runnning?

Is the car idling low?

Re: 383 and IAC readings

I am running a Arizonia, Speed & Marine stock tb ported to 52mm. The car is a M6 and is idling from 800-900 rpm. I am not sure if I am getting cam surge or if the car is having a hard time idling. The car doesn't seem to what to stall out, but I do get a slight surging at idle. Thanks for your reply.....John

Re: 383 and IAC readings

Get it set to 40 at a warm closed loop idle. If your IAC counts are higher than this you need to prop the blades open further by tightening the throttle stop screw. Once you get this set then work on adjusting your TPS to ~0.5v at closed throttle.

Re: 383 and IAC readings

My iac is in the low 30's at idle. It is in the 60's with the ac on max and the coolant fans on high. My tps is .64 with the engine running though.

Btw, I've been to the "the red door" once or twice which I beleive is in you neck of the woods.

Re: 383 and IAC readings

Thanks guys, I tried to open the blades a few times. I guess I just have to go more.

95z383lt4: Ya I've been to the Red Door a few times. Not my favorite place but decent for local place. Where are you from?

Re: 383 and IAC readings

If it helps, my TPS shows .65V (engine running, 0 throttle), IAC runs anywhere from 20-30, MAP 42-46. Engine is a 383 with the Comp XE 224/230 cam and an Edlebrock 52mm TB, idle is currently programmed to 875RPM. Car runs/idles/drives perfectly.

What are your MAP readings at idle?

My map readings from the datamaster closed loop, is in the low 15's hg at idle (800-900rpm) programmed for 850. I see your map readings are higher. Why is that? Thanks......John

Sorry, I should have specified, my MAP reads 42-46 kPa... that translates to around 13" hg. The difference could be due to our different cams, your SC, etc.
