383 and catalytic convertor...

I live in a state and county with no emmisions testing, would it be better to gut the cat? I just built this motor and am having PCMforless do the pcm reprogram, he said I could gut them or not on the same computer he is sending... The car smells like rotton eggs even at idle.

You really should post your signature, so that we can see what vehicle/mods we are talking about. If you're building any kind of real 383, than the stock manifolds and cat back need to find the nearest dumpster. The cat should be swapped out for a high flow one, or just gut it if you have no emissions worries.

yes I know...

383, hot cam, stock manifolds, stock 129,000 muffler and 129,000 cat. I would love to put headers and all but out of money right now, gutting cost only time.

Really no other way I know of. Use of a multimeter fries the sensor. Best way is with a scanner so you can monitor the readings and crosscount activity.
