383 or 355? for my new supercharged motor

I need some ideas here from people with superchargers, I have a 93 TA with a ATI P600B blower, im going to be building a new motor and I was wondering if a 383 is worth it with a blower over the 355, my thoughts on this is a 383 would probably have a little more bottom end TQ but the 355 would have a little more HP right? im looking for guys with these setups, im planing on building a all forged motor probably 8.0:1-8.5:1 and a 15 lb blower pully on a 383 I dont think that the 383 will make 15 probaly only 11-12 due to more cubes to fill, im looking for any info cam set ups or anything time slips with the set ups you are running, im looking to run high to mid 10s if I can on stock ported heads

personally i would do a 355. but then again i am not a real big fan of 383's. they are too much of a headache and adding a supercharger would just complicate things more. too much complication for not too much more added power IMO.

You might post this in the "Forced Induction" forum and also try a search. This has been discussed here multiple times, including recently. In very general terms though, if you are buying a new rotating assy. anyway, there is almost no reason not to build a stroker for either a blower or an NA buildup.

I agree with Rich, there is no reason if youre replacing the rotating assembly anyway to not go ahead and add the extra 33 cubes. Remember for a 355 to make the same power it will have to spin faster all else being the same. The headaches are way overstated, a good fuel system and tune on ANY engine is a must.

I agree with Rich also, if you are replacing the bottom end, there is no reason not to go with 383 over a 355. You will make more power with the 383.

Yep... if you are buying a new crank and pistons might as well get at 383. Probably won't cost any more. And don't put the 15lb pulley on the P600. You will over rev the blower. Just use the 12lb... it does about 10psi on my 355 but, would do a little less on a 383.

That is not even close to correct. How is it complicated? Adding cubic inches is always the cheapest and easiest way to make additional power. Look for an easy 40-60 ft/lbs of torque over a 355.

what all do you ahve done to yours? I see low 11s in your sig, Im hoping to pull off a 10 second pass, im planning on a th400 in my car to with a 3500-3800 stall, Im looking for any setups and peoples times so I can go from there for my set up.

There is more complication in a stroker in terms of balancing and clearancing.

But. . . it's worth it. A centrifugal supercharger builds boost with rpm, so low-end is a little weak when compared to the top-end rush. A stroker adds the low-end that the supercharger is missing.

Mod's in sig, 10.40 at 133 mph on ET Streets 3700 lb.

Let's capitalize on that mechanical advantage!

Stroke it.

With those times I had a 12lb pulley on a 355, ported stock heads, a baby cam (118-224@0.5" on a 114ls), Hooker long tubes, turbo 400 with a 3000rpm stall with 3.73 gears in a full weight convertible. I think you could hit some high tens.
