Re: Stock Torque Converter?

The highest my stock converter ever stalled was 1600-1650 but it would flash to about 1800-2000.

Re: Stock Torque Converter?

Im not really trying to figure out where mine stalls to, Im trying to show a friend that just cuz someone has a 2800 stall in their car, it doesnt meant that their car will not move an inch till it hits 2800. SO im trying to show him that stock cars have them as well, and that obviously, our cars move before 1500 or 1600 or so. Thanks guys!

Re: Stock Torque Converter?

sorry i dont have any info about the stock one, but ive read many many times on this board that the stall on a converter cannot be seen unless you use a transbrake, so on a stock braking system, it will always stall lower.

Re: Stock Torque Converter?

MY 3000 stall will move forward at idle. Starts to really get moving around 2200 under light throttle. Floor from a stop it flashes around 3300

Re: Stock Torque Converter?

well, i was just testing this out the other day. and according to my tach, mine stalls at 1500. but mine is a stock tach, so its probably off. anyway, what do you other guys mean 'its flashes at 1800' or whatever. what do you mean by 'flash' ? and is an aftermarket verter with a higher stall a good beginning mod?

Re: Stock Torque Converter?

Flash is where it hits, and holds for a second until the motor "catches up" to it.

Re: Stock Torque Converter?

But is there anything that actually states what the stock converter is? No matter what I tell my friend, he still believes that with a stall, you cannot move until your engine hits that speed. Im just trying to educate the unwilling, and its not easy!
