Re: 300$$ what to buy

I agree with Shawn about the loudmouth + headers + !cat. They sound sweet with manifolds and cat intact but IMO get real raspy loud with headers and !cat. My flowmaster got 4x louder when I did headers & ORP but it still sounds good like Shawn's sound clip in his sig.

i don't know much about this stuff yet, i'm still tryin to learn, so when i figure somethin out, i change my mind really fast.

Re: 300$$ what to buy

I know alot of people don't like the flowmasters but they sound good and get better with headers & ORP. They may not flow the best but are priced pretty cheap for catbacks and I use a cutout at the strip anyway. The Hooker catbacks sound pretty good, too. You can always cut the resonator off the loudmouth and put in a bullet muffler of your choice when you get headers.

meh, i'll just stick with the SLP for now, and get the y pipe. it will be a long *** time before i get headers. i think the y pipe and the slp loudmouth should sound pretty sweet together. what about cut outs with that? i had a 97 mustang gt, and had 40 series flowmasters on it, they didnt' sound too bad.

Try a search on catbacks and listen to sound clips of the different brands and decide which you like best. It's all subjective. What I like won't always be the same as what you like.

Re: 300$$ what to buy

Thanks, that sound clip is through stock manifolds, stock cat, and only an intake. It was a 3" cat-back with an 80 series muffler.

I'm putting on coated Jet Hots Lts with 3" true duals into an X pipe and into sweet thunder (same as GMMG) mufflers. It should be pretty awsome. If the GMMG werent so expensive i would suggest it. Flowmaster is cheap and only sounds better when its modded. You wont like loudmouth with the mods. Even if you jsut remove the cat, it will sound horribly raspy.

Re: 300$$ what to buy

well, i will check into the american thunder cat back system.

since it IS 100 dollars cheaper...maybe i can get the y pipe along with it, and some electric cut outs. then i would have to leave out the shift kit. this kit comes with mufflers right??? what is better the 80 series or the super 40 series???

the flowmaster 40 series flows better. Its liek 1 chamber opposed to 2 or 3. i forget. the 40 series is better though.

Flowmaster IMO is WAY too loud and annoying as soon as you get rid of cats, and even worse with headers too.
Hooker is definitely the way to go, very inexpensive and sounds awesome by itself, with cats removed, and sounds even better with headers.

do yourself a favour, and get yourself a Hooker!

that's what alot of people say, but they don't realize how annoying it gets after a week. a couple guys i know got the flowmaster catback systems and are getting rid of them now. they said the same as you.

as for deep idle....gonna need at least LT headers for that. i don't think you're going to get the deep idle you're looking for just out of a catback system.

just my 2 cents
