300$$ what to buy
Re: 300$$ what to buy
what about 180 degree thermostat???
i'm getting slp loudmouth, cai, and a PCM tune next week. so you people don't recommend a tuning unless you have a thermostat, exhaust, and at least a CAI??
I think i'll be getting the saver packager, because my car is pretty much stock *from madz28* so all i'll need is increased shift points, take out speed limiter, lower temps etc. that is 75 bucks, is that all i'll need?

He didn't do a whole lot for with my tune with the mods in the sig. I could have went with the saver package and saved a little money because most of the stuff he did wasn't exactly neccessary just little things like disabled the EGR, AIR, and skipshift and calibrated for the same size of tires. The car still runs pretty rich.
Re: 300$$ what to buy
Cat-back and shift kit. You dont need a shift kit though, just get it re-programmed. It's like $80 to get an entire tune which will lower your fan temps, increase your timing advance, change your shift points, change the shift firmness and change your rev limiter.
Re: 300$$ what to buy
i hear that just getting the pcm reprogrammed isn't the same as having a shift kit, performance wise. i can always get a shift kit, and then i could just change the shift points and the rev limiter and cooler fan temps, but not increase firm shiftness, and also increase timing advance. would that work good?
Re: 300$$ what to buy
do you think i'll be better off just getting my pcm repogrammed then??? i can get firmer shift points, etc. all the works, than get a shift kit. i might get the CAI to get some cold air in my engine, along with a 160* thermostat. i'll be getting a y pipe soon, as well as what i decide to get after what i choose now.

I had the PCM shift improvement for a while before getting the kit. It worked well but the kit is a big improvement. Of course that's with the Street/Strip setting on the TransGo (middle setting)
Does make it pretty interesting going around corners in the rain. Not dissing ya, bud. A mild shift kit isn't a big difference over the comp tune.
Re: 300$$ what to buy
Actually i was reffering to "better" being 1/4 mile times. An autos shift firmness wont really make a difference. I plan on going with a shift kit with 3.73s shortly too, but the shift kit is by no means a way to cut down on your times.
Re: 300$$ what to buy
i'm going with the shift kit, def. i might do a throttle body bypass, but i don't know how to do it, and i don't know what types of increases i'll get, or if it's worth it. tomorrow i'm getting a 160* thermostat, and then i'm getting my shift kit, then slp loudmouth cat back system. after that i'll be getting a hooker jet hot y pipe, then a CAI.
Re: 300$$ what to buy
Here's a guide for the throttle body bypass. It's pretty easy to do.

I didn't run the car at the strip before the kit so I have no 1/4 time comparisons
I do spin a little on the 1-2 shift at the track so that sure isn't helping my times
