2bolt 4 bolt which do I need

I read some other posts and got good information, but non exactly like my question.

Im building a 383, all forged internals compstar, je pistons, heads down the road, cam going in it now.
Im also planning on running a 300 shot. Couple people have told me to just stud the 2 bolts because they will do just fine, but I think id be stupid not to 4 bolt a 600+whp motor. Your opinions?

If you plan to run a 300-shot, you would be foolish not to run 4-bolt mains.

Thank you, I was thinking the exact same thing, just wanted to "check" on it from the 20k experts

not to high-jack but I have the same question myself. I'm going to be running a 355 running 15~ pounds of boost with a T76. Just stud the 2 bolt or splay to 4?

Fred will make his argument for straight 4-bolt mains but I just think it important to use quality main caps and fasteners and either splayed or straight will work.

By the time you pay for putting new maincaps on a factory 4-bolt block probably wont save you anything because of the premium you will pay for it in the first place.

How fast are you planning to run?? I would expect with any decent heads a 300 shot should be well into the 9s at the slowest. I understand that from the other post you won't be running worked heads for the time being just wonder if your 300 shot goal is a reasonable one.

300 will not be going on yet, ill do the heads before I go 300 shot, I may start with smaller shots, but in the end 300 will be it.
Iv read freds argument in another 2bolt vs 4bolt thread.
Theres no dout with a stock cast head a 300 shot is "unreasonable". I just want to make sure the bottom end will take it, I can do all the top end down the road without pulling the motor.
As far as "how fast" I want to run, basicly where ever it takes me, however I want to be able to still drive it for example all interior is staying in it etc.
