Talking 275 stock or more a little rumor i heard

all i have ever heard for rwhp numbers for a stock Lt1 is 275. It says this everwhere, but i have heard from some pretty respectable people that a stock Lt1 really puts out 10-15 more. Because at least in 1995 the trans am and Z were putting out mor power than the vette. So they said the trans am and Z had less hp than the vette so they could put a higher pricetag on the vette, and also so vette sales would,nt drop. so unless someone has dynoed a stock Lt1 and it comes out to 275; i believe this rumor. Factory says Lt1 put out 275 at the crank, not the rear. If you correct for drive train loss you wind up with around RWHP M6 and 220 RWHP for A4.

But these numbers are not carved in stone. The only way you can get a better idea is with a dyno test. Even then, you it will only tell you what you are getting to the rear. You will just have to rely on the advertized specs for FWHP.

Yes, the factory has been known to lie. E.g., the Ls1 f-body rated at 310 to the crank while the vette was rated at around 345, when dyno testing often indicated that the F-body was actually reading higher numbers than the vette.

no.

vettes always have more power than the fbody, but its usually just minor things..........a better intake and a better exhaust and little things like that.

lt1 fbody was 275 crank...........and most M6 cars dyno around 240ish rwhp stock i believe

my M6 was putting down 264 hp and 302 tq with just a K&N
I think this is closer to what they put down. My friends A4 put out 260 hp and 290~tq.

I always thought GM understated only the LS1's power numbers

Feels nice to have a car that makes 300 hp at the crank. Just something magical about it .

GM has always underrated their power ratings.

Mine just put down 275hp and 315tq on the dyno with a Moroso CAI, flowcaster and a gutted cat so I would say that the factory flywheel rating might be a touch low.
