233/239 vs 236/242

I know these are two cams more on the extreme edge of what people tend to run but I was looking for some feedback. My 224/230 is much too small for me and I'm getting ready to yank it. It's going on a forged 355 with CMS Stage II heads/intake, full boltons, yada yada.

So gimme the pro's and con's of each if you've had one or the other.

How is driveability? What does your cam peak at on what LSA?

The car only has a quick tune for the 36lb injectors right now, the cam is an a 112LSA and the driveability is great. The car is not fully tuned yet so I couldn't tell you peak numbers, but I can tell you that around 4200RPM's in 2nd gear the assend breaks loose and starts to slide out. The car deffinately has plenty of power. The car has a Yank 2800 Converter in it aswell.

Re: 233/239 vs 236/242

I have the 236/242 XE grind cam in my LE2 383. It pulls real strong and is a good cam for a stroker as it is a lower RPM motor. The problem with the XE grinds is that they start to fall off at high RPM, which you will need in a 355.

IF you decide to go with this cam, I would recomend a very light drivetrain and a rev kit to keep the lifter on the cam.

The heads are already done, plus I like to get responses straight from the people that actually drive the cars with the mentioned cams.

How often you drive? Daily? Did you take her to dyno?

236/242 will be more radical to drive in 355cid than 383cid.

I have the 233/239 and have personally tuned/drove a few cars with the 236/242. Both very nice cams.

I know what the lobes are on the 233/239 and I'm not a fan of those. The 236/242 no clue what lobes you are running.

The lobes are very hard to control the valves with. Thats why I dont use them.
