Header and exaust install parts?

Ok im going to be installing my new jet hot coated pacesetter race style long tubes and ory along with either a used borla or slp dual dual. First i need to get everything togethor to do the install such as bolts, gaskets, o2 extenders, egr block off plates, and instaructions on how to remove the air. Please post up what gaskets bolts o2 extenders block off plates and anything else i should use along with where to find/buy these things. I also need one new o2 sensor if anyone knows where to get the best price on this.

I forgot which gaskets I used (I didn't get the copper ones), but I bought Stage 8 3/4" bolts and I think they are great.

Re: Header and exaust install parts?

I used Percys Seal For Good aluminum header and collector gaskets, and ARP 3/4" header bolts.

I have no input on the O2 extensions and EGR/AIR mods. I have mids so the O2s were fine, and I kept the emissions junk intact.

Re: Header and exaust install parts?

If you don't find some EGR block off plates for a price you like they are very easy to make yourself by tracing the gasket onto a piece of 1/4" plate and then sawing out. I actually just used a die grinder/speedy cut to rough cut mine out I think, then a grinding bit to smooth them out a bit.

Very quick and simple - and cheap.

Edit - the $24 ones look pretty nice though...

Re: Header and exaust install parts?

I used the Fel-Pro 1406 gaskets, they ran about twenty bucks a pair. They seal good and haven't caused me any problems. As for the bolts, I used the ones that came with the headers but plan on upgrading to Stage 8 lockers in the future when I do a heads/cam upgrade. As for the extensions, I purchased a pair of 12" extensions from www.ls1speed.com, they ran about eighteen bucks a piece and I needed two for my longtubes.

Re: Header and exaust install parts?

I will be installing the same setup very shortly, pace setter LTs, ORY, and slp dual, and it would help me out greatly to know where i could get the o2 extensions.
Please post if you have them or know where i can get them.
are EGR plates necessary? what really do they do other than "repair stumbling issues" i mean will i definately have issues without them?

Re: Header and exaust install parts?

I got the EGR plates because I ordered the race headers and did not want my EGR anymore. It was simple taking it off and putting the plates on.

I used Mr. Gasket copper seal gaskets with 1" underhead length Stainless 12 pt bolts. I tightened them when I installed the headers and have checked it 3 different times after running it through heat cycles and never had to retighten any of them. No leaks whatsoever.

The FELpro 1406 gaskets work very well.
Whatever bolts you get go 1" instead of 3/4". I like the ARP stainles hex head, they are less than $25.00. The locking ones are nice but not $70.00 nice.

The longer bolts will allow you to tighten the headers down more without risk of stripping holes out. They fit perfect with 3/8" flanges.

Re: Header and exaust install parts?

My friend just paid 45.00 for a set of Stage 8 lockers, not that expensive and worth it if you don't want to worry about your bolts coming loose.
