227 cam install and GMPP guideplate info

I switched out the Comp guideplates for the GMPP guideplates last
night. I took some pictures but they came out blurry and don't look
so good. I was hoping to show the offset of the roller tip on the valve
stem. The bottom line is the GMPP parts work perfect. The roller tip
is now centered on the valve stem tip across the board.

As for the 227 post install opinion, I really like it. It's very much what
I had expected and provides a noticable improvement in the 2000 to
6000 powerband with a very very minor lope and minimal off idle
issues. With the 3.73s that were installed at the same time I can
roll the car out off idle, take it up to 2000, stand on it and put some
nice spin on my 315s. If I had the stock 245s it would probably just
smoke them.

It also looks like my intake manifold leaks and pinon seal leak are resolved.
So far not a drip on the garage floor.

I just got mine on today too, and also tried to get pics, which were semi-blurry. But like you said, I could just look at them and tell they were right on. I'm pretty pleased about that.

I have the 227 with 245's, yes you can smoke'em, quite easily from a roll.

In a post a while back you were considering getting a custom tune for your
227. Did you ever get a tune and if so what was the result?

I still have too. Everytime I get extra money, something comes up, i.e. Paramedic/1st semester 647+books, college/Fall 377+books. Fun moneys' tight till school is over.

I bought a 97 PCM a while back in anticipation of getting a mail order tune but
the car runs so good I can't imagine that big gains are possible. Maybe like 5-10 hp max.
