Exclamation 1994 Camaro z28 power problem

Hey guys im fairly new to this forum. I recently bought a 1994 camaro z28 automatic with 146k miles for $700 because the owner and myself figured the gaskets where blown. Although it was a hissing noise kinda liike a supercharger i bought it. Took it to Midas and they fixed the Intake manifold leak. I definitely know it needs a major tune up, and might need a neW catalitic converter. except When i turned it on and rev it , it only revs up to the 4k rpms but then it wont pass the 3k rpms now(sounds like it hits the 5k rpm redline tho), and the redline doesnt start til 5 or so. So im wondering if its the cat that is clogged up or the transmission?. When i do drive it, it shifts fine but after revving it while being parked it shifts a wee hard now. I have no idea what it is. Tune up, cat and transmission? . Forgot to mention the exhaust sounds really silent? the guy put a flowmaster muffler only but it still should sound kind of loud right? Thanks for your time!

Sounds like the cat is plugged up. An exhaust shop can check the pressure in the system by connecting a gauge in place of the O2 sensor.

Beyond that, check the fuel pressure and scan it for codes.

Injuneer's point on the cat is absolutely the best way to check this issue. Other symptoms include slow revving and a fuel smell but you don't always get the bad smell.
