17 by 9 1/2in rims could i fit 315s on them
Well I think I would rather massage the inner fenderwell over the outer. I have seen a couple f-bods with 11's on the back. I thought they stuck out to far, and I have been unsure about getting them. I do not want them to hang out of the fender at all. That will look to trashy, I want a clean tight fit. Do you have any links to the massage of the fenderswells?
I don't like mine sticking out either. Here's a couple of links:
Here's one with 36mm offset
Here is another with 50mm offset
Here's a picture of car with 17 x 11's 50mm all the way around (thanks Chuck!) and here's what Chuck said about installing the 11's on his car.
"To be honest they do rub the black plastic inside the fender a little bit, but my car is pretty low and has soft springs. To make them fit, I had to install long front studs (I went with GM truck studs, but if I had it to do over I would go with the ARP studs). There is a tit that sticks out on the spindle that I ground off, and finally I used a 1/4" spacer on each front wheel.
To be honest, they fit up front better than they do out back.
Later,
Chuck"
I think they look awesome on his car and don't seem to stick out at all.

Brand of tire makes a difference in the way they will sit on the rim. A buddy of mine with Nittos on a 9.5" rim doesnt have near as much of a "rolling" problem around turns as a friend of mine with BFGs. I think the Nitto is a little more conservative about its actual tire width meassurement.
IMHO I would do it if I didnt like to take turns as fast as I do.

I'll have pictures and instructions on my site hopefully next week. I'm waiting for the tires to come in. Maybe that will help. I'm putting the same wheels (just silver), 17 x 11 50mm on the rear of my car with 315/35-17 Hoosier tires for autocross.
Yes, the 315's on 9-1/2's will fit and will look great, I am running the same set-up now. They do NOT buldge at all and it gives it a real sporty look. I have never had a problem with mine what so ever. I get many comments on the way it looks now

cool, i see alot of "do it" and "dont do it". maybe i ll just get 11's for the back. like i said i have ZR1 rims i dont know what offset they are....but, any 1 know how much ZR1 11's run?
I ran 315s on my GM SS 17x9 rear wheels and they looked and handled great only if the tires would have lasted longer. I actually used to get comments on them at stop lights ppl were impressed at how they looked. car is lowerd sport line i had no rubbing and do not have the finders rolled.

What you need to do to fit the 50mm offset ZR1 17x11's varies a lot from car to car. I have seen posts from people who swear they just bolted them on, with absolutley NO mod's. I found I had to:
1. Cut the corner of the jounce bumper bracket (you can bolt the wheels on and drive without doing this, but if you jack the car and allow the axle to go to full drop, the jounce bumper bracket will catch the inside of the rim):
Cut jounce bumper bracket
2. Hammer the inner fenders..... I got a little over-enthusiatic with this, but it paid off when I squeezed a set of 28x10.5-15W ET drags on the back. Cover it up with rubberized undercoat when you are done, and you will not notice:
Hammer inner fenders
3. Recenter body over axle with adjustable panhard rod.... only for the "perfectionist".... I moved mine about 1/8":
Driver's side clearance
Passenger side clearance
It may also be helpful to roll the inner fender lip up a little, to keep the body from torqueing into the side of the tire on really hard shifts.

I've been driving on my 17x11 wheels without roling the fender lip. I had to hammer the inner fender a little, but not much! I bolted the wheel on and then make sure you can fit your fingers between the tire and the fender all the way around.
