Re: 15degree heads on lt1?

Well,my figures on an aftermarket block were about $2200.00 after all was said and done.
If I had not had a 4 bolt LT-1 here I was thinking strongly about an aftermarket block. But with no longer leg than was going in it,I didn't think it was worth it.
The LT-1 has had every hole in it redone and the block was filled, partly. The lifter bores are bored and bushed also,to run those TRICK lifter's. Didn't want to have a problem with roller's with this much invested(makes a mess out of a new engine). So without all the other stuff that was on the bill, just the block work was real close to $1000.00.

What is a wp motown block? I have never heard of this before? What does WP stand for? Has anyone ran this in an LT car before? Is it iron or aluminum? It comes with a 4.100+ bore when you order it?!? how hard of a swap?

It's an aftermarket gen I block. So it can certainly be installed in a 4th gen. Not easy, but not rocket science. Sure wouldn't be cheap to have someone do it for you though, and I don't know of anyone who has done it for a street car. There are 4th gen's that are track cars/trailer queens with gen I blocks though. And I'm sure there are people who run them on the street, just that I haven't seen one.

World Products makes the Motown small block chevy cylinder block. You can get it both cast iron and aluminum. The engine can be bought with the 4" bore or the 4.125" bore, both of which can be .010 undersize for finish honing or you can buy a "to size" block for a little extra.

I know one guy who's done the swap... Dart Iron Eagle block 434ci into a 97' Z28. Lots of custom stuff on that one because he made his own k-member, headers, brackets and lots of other stuff. This was before BMR came out with a k-member to do the swap so...

It's not going to be "bolt-in" and I wouldn't recommend the swap to anyone who isn't very mechanically inclined. It will require a little ingenuity but it's not so out of the ordinary for people who are use to doing things a little different from the norm. The LT1 block is plenty capable to a point where streetability suffers (NA builds). That's where the big gen1 small block picks up the tab IMO.
