12.35 @ 114....whats next?

OK I finally got a chance to run my 385 at the track and ran a 12.35 @ 114 with a 2.0 60'. Right now Im dead even with a couple of my friends as far as times go, so I want it faster. Heres my mods...

Ported Heads and Intake, stock valves
CC306 Cam
Crane Gold 1.6 SA RR's
Ford Motorsports 42lb Injectors
Racetronix Walbro 255 kit
58MM BBK TB
K&N FIPK
High Flow MAF
Mail Order Tune w/ LT$ Knock Module
CSI Electric Water Pump
160* Thermostat

385 Stroker
Eagle Forged Crank
Eagle Forged H Beam 6" Rods w/ L19 Bolts
SRP Forged -16CC Inverted Dome Pistons
Cloyes Double Roller Timing Set
Milodon 4 Bolt Splayed Mains
1/2 Filled Block
0 Decked, .035 Quench
Canton Oil Pan / Pickup
M55HV Oil Pump

Air Delete
EGR Delete
Evap Delete
AC Delete

Stock M6 w/ Spec Stage III Clutch and B&M Short throw
Stock Rear w/ 4.11's (aka time bomb)
Aluminum Driveshaft
Nitto Drag Radials on Salad Shooters

Edelbrock Shorties
Borla Cat Back

So for my next step, I was thinking about throwing a 150-200 shot at it, but I dont have that kind of money right now. What could I do in the mean time to drag a couple tenths out of it? I was thinking about removing the front sway bar for this weekend at the track and seeing what happens, but seeing that the rest of my suspension is still stock I dont know. Any suggestions are welcome.

You could always do some weight reduction. I say save up and spray it.

You have the mph for 11s...You just need some suspension and tires...I would look at the M/T radials on the 16s...I went 1.55 60's with them...A rear is definitely in your future, though...I would also look into Kooks stepped LTs...They'll let that thing breathe over the shorties (unless you cant because of emissions)

I use Spohn stuff and have been very successful with them...

I say get LT's and let that motor breathe better.

Your 60 ft seems like it could be a tad better. If you could sink it into the 1.7-1.8 range I think you would be getting close to the 11's. Judging by the tires you are using, those seems good. Have you tried LCA's or maybe just some more practice?

You'll be in the 11's in no time, just keep working at it.

For mods, I'd consider into LTs, LCAs and stickier tires
Juice would be sweet too, just takes some saving of the nickels and dimes.

hey rich. I still can't believe the power that thing is making on a 383 with a cc306 cam. That cam is completely not made for a 383 and it's still hummin 114mph. You got a freak! those heads could flow a ton better, too!! well, i did do a beautiful job on the port match and bowls on your heads, though. I say you do nothing and let me catch up to you.

Get a stronger rear end and Lauch it into the 11's with your trap speed your good for 11's easily

Thats what I was thinking, a stronger rearend that you won't be afraid to launch on and some better drag radials.

Thats a pretty low mph for a heads/cam 385, I say put on some longtubes, true duals, and get a dyno tune. Do you have any dyno #'s? And what do the heads flow?

I'd say get some LCA's, relocation brackets, panhard bar, and air down your tires waaaay down so they hook. Heat em up too and I gaurantee a good launch. I have seen cars do wheelies with some puny drag radials with enough heat on em. You've got 11's written all over your car man...

Re: 12.35 @ 114....whats next?

wow, tons of reply's, thanks guys. Im not afraid to launch on my stock rear, I have another sitting in my driveway. I just dont get any traction. What should I have my tire pressure at? Also, Ive been considering LCA's, but what kind of gains would I see with them? As far as weight reduction goes, Ive traken out all the emmissions bull s*** I could, as well as the convertible top hydraulics and pump, and AC system. What else would you recommend without making the car no fun on the street? I would go with longtubes, but with my driveway it would be impossible to make it up. I already hit the air dam daily...
