For 100 extra my head guy said he will port the bowl area, worth it?

He said that most of the restriction in the LT1 head comes from the bowl area, and for 100 extra on top of the work I am already having done (milling, valve job, etc), he will really work that area over.

Should I do this if I am planning to run a hotcam or larger when it goes back together?

-Thanks

Go for it. You could do the work yourself but if its already there and he can do it for $100, I'd say go for it.

The bowl is where a good amount of gain can be had. I'd say for $100 it would be well worth it if this guy knows what he's doing.

agreed. Ive been told the same thing, as in all small chevy heads. and the area wheer it transitions from port to bowl area needs wideningon the side w/the angle. one side will be pretty flat/straight, the other side has a major turn. good luck. have him do before and after flow sheets for a little more. good info to know.

If it were me, I'd cough up the $100 in a heart beat. Even if these heads were going back on a stock LT1.

Agree. Bowl blending is the single most effective aspect of preparing stock heads.

yeah, i'm in the process of doing mine, theres alot of stock there that could be shaped in many different ways, like mentioned above do it if the guy know's what he is doing. it's worth the time it takes for sure!
