Got the fuel system to support it I hope?

A 300 shot isn't just spray and go at that level.... good luck hooking too.

Yeah it doesn't take a bunch of n20 to go fast so start small and work your way up.

I know a guy who has spent $11k on his 396ci LT1, $4k on built trans w/3500
stall, Ford 9" w/4.11s, etc..... Way to much stuff to sit a list it all.

And he is running 10.50s on a 150 shot. I believe he told me he's at 630hp.

just throwing money at it doesn't work..you kinda have to know what your doing with matching up a good whole package. Meaning, power, engine, suspension, car setup.

If you are talking about making an NA LT1 into a consistent 10sec car (i.e. will hit 10's under average conditions and do it reliably) that is a multifactorial process. The big thing is to get the weight down, which is hard to do w/o compromising street driving. That makes the rest easier. Traction is the other area to concentrate on. The making power part is easy - there are many routes to this. But you don't know what kind of power you need until you have an idea of what weight you will be pushing.

True (in the sense defined above) 10sec 4th gen cars are much more common on the Internet than at the track. I am not saying it's that difficult to do, but it does take time and money and when it comes down to it, the result is often so compromised as a street car that it isn't much fun. So, think carefully about your goals and desires before you embark on such a project. I have seen a lot of people who regret it once they have done it.

It is, that's what nitrous is for. Mid to high 11s is a little easier to obtain and keep the car more driveable on the street. Then spray your way to that 10.90.

Yeh, he he, alot of 10 second normally aspirated street cars on the net

It can be done, sure. Everyones idea of a "street" car is different. But once you start building one, and make it RELIABLE(the key word here) buddy the money is gonna kill you. My idea of a true 10 sec, normally aspirated streetcar is a car that can sit is traffic with the A/C on and not overheat...since mine is almost done, I spent the money to have that...I have no idea if I will be able to do it, I see now why guys trash the A/C(what a PAIN the passenger side of the engine is to work on).

Streetcars are heavy, heavy cars require ALOT of power to run 10's. Which in turn is VERY hard on drivetrain parts, in particular transmissions.

You can build a one pass wonder to get in the 10's, staying there without the hood up every weekend is a whole nother story. Take your time, save the money to by the good stuff and you will be happier in the end. Us older guys can say without a doubt, we have all rushed a car together because we were impatient, we ended up spending TWICE as much in the end...because we ended up buying the good stuff after we got frustrated with the "hurry up" stuff.

ok well with all thats been said and knowing my budget i guess imma just have to spray my way into the 10's. i know nitrous is still hard on parts and you cant skimp on them but i guess that would be my easiest route...a stout 383-396,converted intake, good custom cam, and some good ol nitrous. one more question...how much can you spray before you need a "nitrous" converter? im sure i wont spray more then 200 if i get my vigilante restalled would it hold up? thanks for all the help guys

Wow, lots of guys who really know how to make a 10sec ride happen, but haven't....

Tim 95Bird is one of the few who's done it. Send him a PM and a check. You can probably mail him some Bud Light as well .
