There are numerous bolt on only ls1 in my club running <12.2xx's and there are cam only ls1's running 11.4xx's. However, they do have a little more suspension work than stock. For instance, the Cam guys have BMR's track pack installed. Face it, ls1's are the superior motor, but it costs them more money to get the same place. I paid $5k for my car, if I put $10k under the hood for a total of $15k which is less than an ls1 car stock I would blow it out of the water.

This thread belongs in the lounge anyways and has been beat to death on every board...

AZFBA is my local fbody car club and has over 400 registered members. There are currently no ls1's in the 11's with boltons, 1 cam only ls1 in the 11's, and no heads/cam/stroker ls1's in the 10's. The only guys running mid 10s have heads/cam and 150 shots.

Well i'm droping 7 or 8 G's into a 398 LT4 with LE Trick Flows and LE/Bauer Cam. All forged Internals. Hydroulic Roller. 12.1 compression and still streetable. I'll see what it runs with some good tires on it if the Tranny dont go along with the 10 Bolt.

I got a little curious and figured out what ALL the suspension upgrades from BMR cost (who I believe smokin01ta bought all his suspension pieces from)

TUBULAR K-MEMBERS $499.95
Upper A-arm $219.95 pr.

You would be more more like 12-13k with all that, 12 bolt/9 inch and the cam setup. Then add in the drag wheels/tires, safety equipment, etc. You get the idea.

I agree LS1's are faster given comparable mods but i don't think they are as far ahead of LT1s as it seems, or some of you make it sound. Lets look at Frank95z on this board and his cam only LT1 that has run a best of 11.27@118.90mph. This car is a STREET CAR, according to the owner at least, weighs 3300 lbs with him in it, races on DOT approved tires, has a stock torque arm and only a 3200 rpm stall. It seems as if this car was set up more like these LS1 cars (lose about 300 lbs, drag slicks, a more drag oriented suspension set up, and a ~4000 stall) he could easily be in the high 10s. I could be wrong about a few of these facts but it seems like Frank could run within .5-.7 seconds of the top LS1 cam only cars.

The guy running 10.2 is a good friend of mine. the car is very impressive for what it is but don't think that its not a drag on only car. It is super light(has me beat by 300 lbs) and had a very agressive setup in it. Those heads on a stock ls1 flowed as good as my ported lt1 heads that I ran 10s with...so they react so much better to a big cam than a stock lt1 head will. Look at the 60'...that is a serious suspension he has under there. Plus he can drive pretty darn good. But..there is alot of money in that car..just the brakes alone would cost at least a grand to duplicate...and thats just the tip of the iceburg. Everything they think about is weight reduction and squeking every last .01 out of the car. In fact...I was there with him tuning his suspension and tire setup for his record breaking runs.

theres a STOCK INTERNAL LS1 in the 10s.
a buddy of mine runs 11.0 @ 121 in a bolt on LS1.... to bad he is in the midwest! If he lived by No Problem he would be in the 10's easy.

Well I wouldn't call them stock then! Unless they were LS6/2 heads.
